Saturday Games! 5:00 - 9:00 PM

In this section you'll discover the activities our "family" does together each week. The links in the navigation bar at the left will take you to the pages we've highlighted below. 'They' say a picture is worth a thousand words, so each page has a slide show of our activities. If you like what you see, you're stationed in this area, and want to join us for our activities, just contact us and let us know who you are. We'll hook up with you and you can join us for food, fun, and fellowship!

We get together at our house every Saturday evening from 5:00-9:00pm for fun and games! We play lots of board games like Monopoly, Risk, Settlers of Cataan, Life, Clue, and others. We also go bowling and miniature golfing. Our evening always starts with food (pizza, tacos, hamburgers and fries, hot dogs)! The point isn't so much "what" we do, but having fun as friends and "family" in a real home.

Sunday dinners

Sunday Dinners 1:00 - 5:00 PM

Every Sunday afternoon we get together from 1:00-5:00pm for our big home cooked "family style" dinner. Being the excellent cook that she is (and I am prejudiced!), Yvonne always fixes a tremendous meal that is always followed by a really delicious dessert!

While she puts the finishing touches on dinner, some people read the paper, do the weekly Sunday crossword puzzles, or enjoy a hot cup of tea. Those who bring their laptops check email, surf the web, or phone home. Still others take the opportunity to catch a few extra z's (especially after a late night watch). A few who like to cook, even help Yvonne in the kitchen.

After dinner we go into the living room and sometimes we sing and worship, or watch a movie or a DVD of a book of the Bible. Afterwards we'll talk about the point of the films and what we got out of them. Or sometimes we watch a football game. We close every Sunday afternoon by sharing prayer requests and praying for each other.

Special events

Special Events

We attend special events as a group too, like the annual Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus when it comes to town; The annual Civil War reenactment at the Endview Plantation in Yorktown, and the Norfolk Tides baseball games. Then there are occasional day trips to Colonial Williamsburg and the original Jamestown settlement.

And of course, no activitiy is complete without food! After the Civil War reenactments we usually go to Andreas Italian Restaurant in Newport News for pizza. That's followed by a stop for ice cream at the Cold Stone Creamery.

Bible Studies

If you're interested in exploring the Bible, Christianity, who Jesus Christ is and how He relates to your life, come join us for our weekly Bible studies. We plan our Bible studies with your often hectic military schedules in mind. We even do individual mentoring for those who want it.
